Interesting Title Here!
And a subtitle as well. This subtitle should definitely make you want to read this article. Which actually contains an announcement that you might be interested in. I'm good at burying the lede.
Good morning, racefans!
It’s storytime.
Back in October of 2025, I took my first proper vacation in . . . honestly, I have no idea how long! I was in a good place though. I was enjoying working with my client, my kids were thriving in the new country, and my long-distance on-and-off again partner had flown out all of the way from Phoenix for a visit. It was the perfect time to go introduce folks to one of my favourite cities: Paris, France.
By the way, I am going to pepper this whole post with photos from this trip. Because a) I LOVE Paris, b) I so rarely get a reasonable excuse to share stuff like this, and c) this is my blog. If you don’t like it, get your own! 😉
So I took the week off and when I got back on that Friday, my phone started BLOWING. UP.
This is, as they like to say, not a Good Sign.
Without getting into too many details, changes were happening with my client and nobody knew for sure what they would mean. Just that there were going to be a lot of them.
Fast forward several months and the good news is that I was lucky. I managed to weather those changes for quite a while, and I flatter myself in thinking that I helped to influence things at least a bit in making the lives of my coworkers easier as they went through uncertainty that I have had to experience myself.

The not-so-good news is that the luck didn’t last. About a month and a half ago, they let me know that they were not going to be renewing my contract. I wasn’t at all surprised, there was a lot of redundancy in this process and they have a really fantastic person in place doing what I am also really fantastic at! They were kind enough to put me on garden leave, which has allowed me some breathing room.
I have taken some time to spend with the kids, do some of the chores around my flat that kept ending up on my “I’ll take care of that someday” list, and just generally exist . . . which I don’t think I need to tell you folks how necessary that is when you work on this level!

I am now going to be deliberate about what comes next.
I know what kind of work I have enjoyed deeply (and what I’m good at), and what I would rather hold off on for a while.
If you are a founder (or know someone who is) and you’ve hit the point where your customer team is creating actual friction rather than just background noise, I would genuinely love to talk to you about it. I’m not looking to pitch you, I’m not the kind of person to even HAVE a pitch deck. Let me have 20 minutes of your time, and maybe we can find a solution. You can find the myriad ways to contact me right here (including setting up a call on Calendly!).
And this goes for everyone! If you find that you could use some help with your customer team (support, success, experience, account management, etc), I would love to chat. I may not be a great fit, but I probably know someone who would be!

And in the meantime, keep your chin up, everyone! We’ll get through all of this together. 💪
